What You Can Do

The underground royal commission Report, through its 16 books and 14 hours of documentary programming, paints a picture of a country that has lost its way. Canadians are overburdened with debt and taxes, close to 40% of the GDP goes through government hands, we do not carry our weight for our own national defence, and we have governing institutions that are not accountable for their decisions and actions.

If you concur, and if you care about Canada, what are you going to do about it?

Here are some ideas:
Educate yourself about the issues (taking this course and navigating The underground royal commission website are a good first step)
Tell others what you have learned
Advocate for electoral and parliamentary reform
Join an organization pushing for reform (e.g. taxpayer groups, electoral reform groups, defence organizations, etc.)
Start an organization advocating reform
Join a political party and push for reform
Run for office on a platform of reforming the system
Write letters to the editor and to your MP
Write op/ed pieces for your local newspaper
Take the online distance education course entitled Accountability and Canadian Government from the University of Guelph's Office of Open Learning. This course is based on the urc's Days of Reckoning book and documentary.

Our governing institutions will only be accountable when we demand accountability. There is no “us” and “them”... we are all in this together.

What ideas do you have to influence change? Share them in the discussion forums.

Help shape Canada’s future!
